Synopsis
In the chaotic late Qing Dynasty, several gold veins were hidden deep within the Longmen Mountains, attracting mine owners from all over to compete for the rights to extract them. Miners risked their lives for money, eking out a living in dark, sunless tunnels. Old miner Wang Dehou had spent most of his life digging in the Longmen mine tunnels, having witnessed countless cave-ins, water seepage, and deaths. He had long since learned to live with death hanging over his head.
